Get the FAQs on our freight forwarding services, charges, insurance or anything else with responses to these frequently asked questions…
How much do you charge?
The fastest way to find out how much your shipment will cost is to phone or email us for a quick quotation. Our rates are always competitive but the cost will depend on a number of factors: consignment size, weight, destination and delivery times. The more flexible you are on delivery times, the lower the freight rates will be.
How fast will my shipment get there?
It depends on your needs. When you want it to get there quickly, we offer express options including timed next-working-day deliveries within the UK or premium 48-hour pallet freight deliveries to most European countries. Economy options are also available for when time isn’t such an issue. For more information, check our our Shipping costs & delivery options page.
Do you offer customs clearance?
Yes. For smoother freight forwarding, we have a 24/7 Dover agent to deal with customs clearance on UK imports. We also offer a wide range of import customs clearance throughout the UK, covering most of the country’s major sea/air ports and also the Stop 24 freight facility at Folkestone which covers the Channel Tunnel traffic. Find out more on our Customs clearance page.
Do you provide a shipping service for personal effects?
IFL does not handle personal effects. We predominantly serve large-scale and business freight needs in the UK and Europe. Handling personal effects involves different shipping terms, insurances and exclusions from those with commercial considerations so this is not a key area for us at present.
What insurance do you offer?
‘Carriers’ liability in the event of loss/damage to goods is restricted by their conditions of carriage and such liability may be significantly less than the value of the goods. It is strongly recommended that ‘All Risks’ full value insurance is taken out. International Forwarding can provide competitive premium rates and will be pleased to provide advice and information on all aspects of goods in transit insurance.
Where do you stand on the environment?
We try to maintain a low-carbon footprint and comply with all current regulations on waste disposal and Euro emission standards. For example, our latest Scania trucks are fitted with Scania EGR technology so that emissions are reduced in all conditions, including highway driving, long haulage and low-speed ‘stop and go’ in urban areas. Read our full environmental health policy.
Can you store my shipments and redistribute them as needed?
Yes, we offer a wide range of 3PL solutions to UK companies and international importers, including warehousing, cargo handling, consignment splitting, pick and pack, inventory management and supply chain management. Read more about our suite of logistics services.
Where are you based?
Our main transport and warehouse hub is located near Birmingham Airport in the West Midlands but we also offer services through our Dover agent. Our core market for freight forwarding is the UK and Europe, but we also offer shipping solutions for destinations worldwide.
