Germany-UK imports
For UK distribution IFL has its own fleet of trucks based at Coleshill, Birmingham, at the heart of the UK network. We offer same day and 48-hour pallet collection and deliveries for German export and import freight.
This is supplemented by the Palletways network to provide total UK mainland coverage, plus the Channel Islands, Scottish offshore islands, Isle of Man and the Isle of Wight. Tail lift fitted trucks are available in both the UK and Germany.
Commercial freight services
IFL has developed its German services with the capacity to handle a wide range of commodities. These include aerospace materials, audio equipment, automotive parts, computer games, electrical goods, engineering products, housewares, machine tools, plastics, printed matter, wood burning stoves and many others.
To support our German freight options, our customs clearance agent in the Port of Dover offers a 24-7 service to deal with both German export and import freight under customs control.
We also recognise the importance of warehousing to many customers involved in their supply chain with the German market. IFL offers purpose-built facilities both in the UK and Germany with inventory control and other added benefits.
Case study in UK-Germany logistics
International Forwarding implemented a third-party logistics strategy for a large electrical products company based in Frankfurt. Their warehouse operation was only able to supply goods to UK customers within a 48-hour period but competitive customers now expect next-day express delivery on placing an order.
Within four weeks, we had put in place a pick-and-pack warehouse operation to enable overnight deliveries. After liaising with the IT department in Germany, we installed a real-time computer-based package that gave our client the ability to review stock levels, orders and other information, and keep up to date on their product in our warehouse. By using barcode scanners, stock levels are updated as each item is packed, which allows our German customer to know exactly the amount of product to dispatch for stock replenishment.
IFL now picks up to 50 separate consignments per day from more than 300 different stock locations. We then express deliver them using a wide range of cargo fleet services, from a small van to an articulated truck, depending on the size of the order.
