Very few UK freight forwarders operate a daily service for sending freight to Switzerland but International Forwarding is one of them. Our customers get a fast, flexible service when shipping freight to or from Switzerland. Full and part loads are available, as well as cost-efficient groupage. For added value, our Switzerland service is driver-accompanied to ensure the fastest possible transit time and secure, reliable delivery of all your consignments.
Switzerland is not a member of the EU so for a faster, smoother freight forwarding we also offer customs clearance services through our Dover office.

Since 2003, International Forwarding has been the go-to forwarder for daily road freight to and from Switzerland. Here’s how we developed and continue to grow our flagship daily Swiss service…
- IFL’s new transport partner for Swiss freight forwarding
IFL is a pan-European freight forwarder based in the UK. As part of our transport network, we partner with Europe’s leading transport and logistics companies. Meet our transport partner for our flagship, driver-accompanied Swiss service.
- European forwarding
IFL offers European forwarding services in more than 10 European countries. As a platinum member of Palletways Europe, we also have access to more than 400 freight depots and 23 transport hubs in 24 countries.
Do I need customs forms for Switzerland?
Yes. As Switzerland is a non-EU country, a customs declaration form is required – and this is something we can arrange for you through our customs clearance services. You will also need an EORI number to complete the customs paperwork. The UK has already concluded a bi-lateral trade agreement covering both exports and imports so there will be no change to the existing customs control when trading with Switzerland post-Brexit.
Exporting to Switzerland from UK – customs requirements
For goods below a value of £5,700, you should include a declaration of the origin of the goods on your commercial invoice. For higher value consignments, you will need an EUR1 certificate of origin which we can arrange for you. An export entry must be lodged with UK customs, and International Forwarding has its own Dover customs office to facilitate this. IFL also has Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) accreditation from UK customs which is a kitemark for competency in customs matters. In Switzerland import clearance takes place either at the border or at the premises of our Swiss transport partner.
Importing from Switzerland to UK – customs requirements
An import entry must be lodged with UK customs and, again, the Dover customs clearance office of International Forwarding is ideally placed to handle this and to deal with any customs queries raised while they are in transit via Dover port. The transitional arrangements for imports announced by the UK government for a 12-month period post-Brexit can be applied to imports from Switzerland. Further details are available from our customs team.
How much does it cost to send a pallet to Switzerland?
When shipping pallets to Switzerland, transport costs will depend upon the number of pallets, weight and the sizes. Our sales team offer highly competitive quotations; attractive rates can also be given for non-palletised goods.
How long does it take to send freight to Switzerland?
IFL operates driver-accompanied road trailers. We offer door-to-door delivery within 48/72 hours, subject to UK and Swiss customs checks. Please note, due to Covid-19 and certain border closures / restrictions in some countries, transit times and departures may require a longer lead time at present.
