Helping deliver Paws2Rescue’s Christmas 2019 shoebox appeal

Paws2rescue's Christmas shoebox appeal and volunteers, the Turrall family

When a friend called on International Forwarding Ltd for help with a Christmas charity delivery, IFL was happy to assist.

Sue Turrall, an office manager from Coleshill, Birmingham, asked IFL for help using to send a pallet of donations to Surrey. Her family supports the Paws2Rescue charity, which supports rescue dogs abandoned in shelters in Romania.

The UK charity raises funds for food and bedding, vet treatments, education/neutering programmes and rehoming, and counts comedian Ricky Gervais and actress Samantha Womack as its patrons.

At Christmas, Paws2Rescue also collects shoeboxes of gifts to send to children in Romanian orphanages. Sue, whose family recently visited Romania to assist volunteers there, offered to be a collection point for shoeboxes and donations in the Birmingham area.

“We have been absolutely amazed at the generosity of gifts from people, one lady handed us over 20 boxes for the orphaned children. We have at least 50 boxes of donations and more to come!” said Sue.

“Donations for all ages of children have been given, the main items being personal hygiene, notebooks, playing cards, toys and colouring pens.”

Through our membership of the Palletways network IFL offered to send a UK pallet free of charge to the charity’s warehouse in Sutton, Surrey, for onward distribution to Romania. Sue’s employers, Dangerous Goods Packing Ltd, will supply the packing materials.

Nigel Parsons, Director, IFL, said: “We were happy to help support a good cause and do our small part for the Paws2Rescue appeal by delivering through the Palletways UK distribution network free of charge.”

“With IFL’s help, we’ve been able to widen our searches for donations,” added Sue, who has also adopted two Romanian rescue dogs through Paws2 Rescue.

“At the end of the day, the orphans and the dogs benefit from this kind offer.”
