International Forwarding customers are set to benefit from the new industry-first Palletways estimated time of arrival (ETA) technology, which officially launches this week.
From Thursday (1 June), International Forwarding will be offering its clients the benefits of groundbreaking technology available through its membership of Palletways, the No1 UK pallet distribution network.
For every pallet input to the Palletways network the customer will be able to access electronic ETA (estimated time of arrival) data. This will show a two-hour delivery time window, which will be updated in real time to take account of delays caused by weather, traffic accidents or other issues.
Both customer and consignee can choose the electronic data platform, which can be either desktop PC or Android/IOS tablet or smartphone. The supplier will also have the capability of customising the ETA data to its buyers by including advertising material relating to its products or forthcoming sales promotions.
One of the driving forces behind the development of the technology is the increasing volume of residential deliveries now handled by the UK’s pallet networks. In the case of Palletways this is now 25% of total throughput. The ETA data will give the consignee a known two-hour delivery window and add to the overall customer experience offered by the supplier.
