After 26 years with International Forwarding Ltd (IFL) and five decades in the freight industry, our Operations Director Trisha Slater clocked off from her long career last Friday. We wish her a very happy retirement – and just hope she has enough vases for all those bouquets.
Trisha’s retirement marks the end of an era that began when she landed her first freight job aged just 18 years old. She spent the next 20 years working for freight companies in Dublin before joining IFL in 2000 and becoming a director two years later. Last year she celebrated 25 years with the company.
Her career has coincided with enormous change across the industry, but one thing has remained constant: her straight-talking determination to get the job done and to do it properly.

“Well the time has finally arrived – Retirement. After almost 50 years in the industry, 26 of them with IFL it is time for me to go…
“First and foremost I would like to thank the incredible team, past and present at IFL. Along the way we have celebrated successes and weathered challenges, like navigating the complexities of Brexit and COVID, and then coming out the other side of it. The friendships, the laughs, challenges and frustrations, and all these everyday moments that at the time became ordinary, are some of the memories I will treasure most. Teamwork got us through it all. There have been difficult times but also countless moments that made coming to work worthwhile. I will miss the conversations, familiar faces, the camaraderie and sense of purpose.
“To our clients, overseas partners and suppliers thank you for your trust and partnerships over the years. Your challenges have pushed us to excel and it has been a privilege to work with you.
“I may be retiring from work but certainly won’t be retiring from life!!! I am looking forward to spending more time with family and friends, creating new memories and at a slower pace.
“Thank you all that I have come in contact with over the years and thank you all at IFL, it’s been an absolute pleasure.”
