We’re marking a ‘very special milestone’ this month at International Forwarding Ltd (IFL) – the 25-year service anniversary of our much-loved and highly respected Operations Director, Trisha Slater.
Colleagues surprised Trisha with champagne, chocolates, flowers, a gift voucher and many well wishes last Thursday. Andy Grubb, IFL Sales Director, also thanked her for 25 years of dedication, integrity, and passion saying: “You’ve played a massive role in shaping IFL into what it is today, and we’re so grateful for everything you bring to the company. Twenty-five years is a remarkable achievement and testament to your dedication and loyalty to the company.
“Trisha is the perfect example of someone who rules with an iron fist and a heart of gold. She sets high standards, expects the best and doesn’t mince her words – yet everything she does is underpinned by loyalty, care, and an unwavering commitment to her team and the business. This blend of toughness and warmth is a rare and respected quality.”
‘I may make mistakes, but I’m never wrong’

Trisha started out in the freight industry when she was just 18 and went on to work in Dublin for various freight companies for over 20 years. In 2000, IFL’s original managing director Roy Baker brought her on board as operations manager, and within just two years, she’d earned her seat at the table as a director.
Since then, Trisha has led the operations department, overseeing all aspects of IFL’s day-to-day business, and managing a team of people. In a 2018 interview on the IFL blog, she said: “I am very straight talking and will not ask the staff to do anything I am not prepared to do myself. From a personal point of view, I would be best known for a lot of my Irish sayings; I think most members of staff would agree.”
They did indeed, sharing a few of her classic one-liners, such as:
- “Did you miss me, Trisha? – “Like a turkey misses Christmas.”
- “If work was in bed, you’d sleep on the floor.”
- “I may make mistakes, but I’m never wrong.”
In it for the long haul
Trisha is one of a number of people at Team IFL who reach long-service milestones every year. We’d like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our experienced and dedicated team and thank them for making IFL one of the best in the UK transport and logistics industry.
