Freight, transport and Brexit top the Midlands B2B agenda

IFL team discuss Brexit and more at the MBN Expo for B2B businesses.

Brexit was top of the discussion agenda at last month’s Midlands Business Network Expo at the Ricoh Area in Coventry. International Forwarding (IFL) was exhibiting for the first time at the B2B show to talk transport and freight forwarding with potential new customers in the region.

Both importers and exporters at the show wanted to know how Brexit would affect cross-border trade and how to protect their supply chain in the event of a no-deal exit from the EU.

Andy Grubb, Sales Director, IFL, said: “We were asked a lot about Brexit. As a freight forwarder we are right at the forefront of Brexit and we have to be prepared, whatever the outcome. Our team meets weekly to discuss Government notifications and we regularly update customers via Our guide for freight and logistics customers.”

“From a customs point of view, we advise businesses to use AEO-certified freight forwarders, especially at this time of change and potential disruption. IFL has had Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status since 2010. This is an internationally recognised quality mark indicating that our role in the international supply chain is secure, and that our customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant with EU standards.”

Customers can also be assured by IFL’s 30 years’ experience in the Birmingham and Midlands market. We are also a Platinum member of Palletways, which is a pallet distribution network with established coverage across the UK and Europe. And our own freight forwarding services include European groupage to France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Denmark and many more destinations across Europe.

IFL director Nigel Parsons added that IFL’s recent warehouse expansion at its Coleshill hub was proving useful to businesses looking to store or stockpile goods to ensure a smooth supply chain in the coming months.

Of the Midlands Business Network Expo, he said: “It was great to connect with people and businesses across Birmingham, Coventry and the Midlands region, and let them know about our core European freight forwarding services to Germany, France, Austria, Spain and others, as well as our flagship service to/from Switzerland.

“This was our first MBN Expo event and it was a fantastic opportunity to promote International Forwarding in our home region. This summer we celebrated 30 years as a UK freight forwarder and we welcome the chance to talk further with local businesses to see how we can facilitate their freight and logistics needs.”
