A team of three delegates from International Forwarding Ltd (IFL) took the opportunity to meet with customers, old and new, yesterday at the annual Multimodal exhibition at the Birmingham NEC, just 10 minutes down the road from our Birmingham hub at Coleshill.
This is the 10th year we have attended, and it was a good first day catching up with fellow freight forwarders, European affiliates, supply chain clients and prospective customers.
The UK’s biggest transport and logistics event moved into Hall 3 this year, which gave some extra legroom for the 325 exhibitors and expected 8,500 visitors across three days.
Nigel Parsons, IFL’s Sales Director, said: “We wanted to talk to people about our European forwarding services, and were very happy to be accompanied by Jean-Marc Deal from Transports Routiers d’Alsace (affiliate on our Birmingham-Lyon service), who flew in from Lyon to be at the show this week.
“We also wanted to keep abreast of the challenges and opportunities in the transport and logistics industry. The industry is facing various impacts from legal and regulatory compliance issues to disruptive modern influences such as big data, 3D printing, autonomous vehicles and hardware and renewable energy.
“As an independent road haulier, our particular challenges are to remain competitive on cost with larger operators, and to be more agile, adaptable and personal in our service. This is something we’ll be focusing on even more in 2016 for new and existing customers.”
We’d like to congratulate Multimodal organisers on another great event in 2016. Here are some of our pictures from day one at #multimodal16.
